Caption slip reads: "Photographer: Gaze. Date: 1952-10-02. Reporter: Gaze. Assignment: Hamilton Hi Alert. #17: Some of the 1700 students at Alexander Hamilton High school who participated in a red alert drill this morning. These students, from bungalow classrooms, line up in hallways of the main, concrete and steel building. #18: Hamilton Hi students (L to R): Dave Rosenfield, Donn Allen, Bob Thomas and Jerry Golob man two army sirens called 'Maude.' to alert the student body and faculty. #27/28: Principal Walker Brown and Mrs. Ruby Ahrentzen, typing teacher, act as observers as Alexander Hamilton Hi school students follow rules of red (warning) alert. Appointed students have closed the blinds as a precaution against possible flying glass and two rows of students have moved away from the windows. #29: Same class in action as siren/ 'Maude' brays. Students John Wolf and Sheila Shaffer are closing blinds, others are moving away from windows".
