Photograph article dated April 24, 1962 partially reads, "Capt. John M. Arruda is in the position of a man putting on a new coat: It feels fine, sure, but just what does he have here? Capt. Arruda, 42, moved into his first private office last week when he took over command of the Newhall Sheriff's Station. Now he's trying to find out what is outside the office. A Whittier resident Capt. Arruda formerly was administrative lieutenant at the Firestone station. This is his first long look at the Newhall-Saugus area. And what an area it is. It covers 716 square miles - from Kern County to Los Angeles City and from Ventura County to the Antelope Valley - with a staff of 31."
