Photograph of the exterior view of California State Normal School, 5th Street and Grand Avenue, Los Angeles, ca.1890. The school is approximately four-stories tall. The facade features a tall clock tower with an American flag jutting above its spire. A driveway leads through the front gate and curves around the yard up towards the entrance of the building. A variety of trees can be seen in the front yard. The school opened in 1882, and was later torn down and replaced by the Los Angeles Public Libraray, which was built in 1926.
