Several people stroll, shop, and stand along Hollywood Boulevard, all of them oblivious to the world-famous Walk of Fame stars ingrained on the sidewalk underneath their feet. This small stretch of boulevard is riddled with marquees and advertisements for such things as Asahi beer, Budget Rent a Car, Grant parking, etc. The Hollywood Hamburger fast food restaurant advertises hot dogs, pizza, ice cream, popcorn, and the best chili burger, and small souvenier shops cater to tourists. The first Walk of Fame star was laid in January of 1961 and to date, approximately 1,720 names are preserved in bronze to evoke those special memories of the entertainment world.
