Description
„Baziya. Der eingeborene Schulinspektor Abner Silinga mit seiner Frau am Hochzeitstage. Die Frau trägt den Schleier über das Gesicht hängend. Dies aus dem vorchristlichen Volkstum übernommen“ („Baziya. The indigenous school inspector Abner Silinga with his wife on the wedding day. The woman is wearing a veil hanging over her face. This is adopted from the pre-Christian folklore”). A bridal couple standing next to a wall or a building. The bride is wearing a white wedding dress, a veil with ornaments in her hair and white gloves. Left to her the bridegroom wearing a dark suit, a white blouse, a necktie, white gloves and a flower in his front pocket. They are holding hands.
Johnson W. Silinga, born in Baziya (South Africa East) in 1893, was an indigenous brother of the Moravian Church. He was a mission assistant from 1927 onwards.
