Photograph of Wolfe Store near Temecula, California, ca.1887. Also was Butterfield Overland Mail Station on the Pauba Ranch headquarters in Old Temecula. Built 1859. Louis Wolfe is standing on the covered porch with his hand on a post. Another man is sitting on the porch at Wolfe's left. To Wolfe's right another man is stepping up onto the porch with a bucket in his hand and a sack under his arm. A picket fence surrounds a yard at left. A wood rail fence is visible at right. This store is where Alesandro sold his violin while Ramona, The Indian made famous in the novel of the same name by Helen Hunt Jackson, waited in the cemetery.
