At the time of the raid, this home at 1514 Schuyler Road was being rented out by its owner, actress Ann Dvorak; she was neither aware of nor involved with the "activities" which took place at her property. Photograph caption dated April 6, 1951 reads, "This is the richly-furnished parlor of 'palace of vice' which was raided by Los Angeles vice squad officers early today in the Hollywood Hills. Among six women and five men nabbed in the raid are (left to right), John Purcell, a 'visitor'; Barrie Bensen [sic], 29, called the successor to Brenda Allen as 'Queen Bee' of Hollywood vice; Sheila McDonald and Kal Rubin, booked on conspiracy to commit pandering, and Gloria Joffee, a 'visitor.'"
