Title supplied by cataloger. Mary Miles Minter, meeting with Deputy District Attorney Joseph Coate (left) and Attorney Joseph F. Lewinson to stop a proposed investigation of her mother, Mrs. Charlotte Shelby, against whom Minter once was ready to wage a legal battle over $1,000,000. Miss Minter, who was famed as 'The American Girl' of the screen a few years ago, left the films when she was at height of fame and fortune, and after the murder of her friend, William Desmond Taylor, she vanished into a lie of seclusion. Now going by her birthname, Juliet Shelby, she is a business woman and vice president of a firm that specializes in landscape gardening. Photograph dated July 27, 1933.
