Description
"Dr. Johanesas bryllup paa Antsahamanitra" ("The wedding of Doctor Johanesa at Antsahamanitra"). The wedding party is gathered at an entrance with the bride and groom in the middle of the group. Date of wedding 1894-04-24. Dr.Johanesa was educated at the Medical Mission Academy. His bride, Ratahina, was one of the girls at the Antsahamanitra Girls' School. The younger girls sitting in front are wearing uniforms, while the others are wearing lamba. This school was established in 1872 by Johanna Borchgrevink and led by her until 1912. Hundreds of Malagasy girls were taken care of and given education during this long period. In the picture we can see from the left: teacher Nielsen, Endrine 1867-1949, later married Pedersen-Robertstad, Borchgrevink, Christian 1841-1919, Borchgrevink, Johanna, Andersen, Valborg 1851-1935, Julie Thesen, born Erichsen 1847-1920, Thesen, Ove J.R. 1860-1917 and to the right teacher Sellaeg?, Martha 1860-1921, whom later married Moerland.
