Description
Hagi ware is thought to originate from the work of two Korean potters, Ri Shakko and Ri Kei, who founded the kiln ( Fukagawa-gama) under the patronage of the Mori clan, sometime around 1604. This teabowl was created by the 12th generation master, Tobei Tawara. It features the famous pink and grey Hagi glaze on a wide flaring bowl appropriate for summer thin tea service. The chawan is housed in a paulownia box bearing calligraphy that describes its provenance. Hagi ware (Hagi-yaki)
