Barbara Neely discusses her novel, “Blanche Passes Go.” She begins by explaining that this is the fourth book in the series that follows her character Blanche White. She talks about how Blanche decides to move back to North Carolina from New York City, and start a catering business with her friend. She describes how she wanted to show the prevalence of violence against women in the south, and how a woman can get past it. Martinson asks Neely to read a passage about the old south versus the new south. She discusses race relations in academia, and what she’s doing to stop racism. Neely ends the interview by talking about how she writes, and her plans for another book about Blanche.
