An unidentified female artist stands next to her painting in Echo Park. She is taking advantage of the beautiful, lush lotus plants that have grown in the lake, to create a beautiful work or art. Each year, Echo Park hosts the Lotus Festival, a pan-Asian celebration, which showcases a different Asian ethnicity (such as Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Filipino, Bangladeshi, etc.); it has been held since the late 1970's. Given the large amount of lotus leaves in the Echo Park Lake, it is said to contain the largest planting of lotuses outside Asia. Photograph dated July 15, 1997.
