Photograph was edited for publication purposes William Holden was born on April 17, 1918. He was an American actor, one of the biggest box office draws during his 43 year career. He died on November 12, 1981. Photograph caption dated April 16, 1956 reads "Under studio cameras, actor Bill Holden, right, interviews George Hjelte, general manager of Los Angeles Recreation and Parks Department."
