Photograph caption date stamped March 27, 1957 reads, "Birmingham High's Greg Mather will be a heavy favorite to win the shotput in Friday's Valley League track and field dual meet against Canoga Park. Big Brave, also a top tackle on the football team, has a best of 51 ft. 5 1/2 in. to be ranked third among all the shotputters in a circuit. In other meets Friday, Van Nuys is at North Hollywood and Reseda at San Fernando." See image 00160562 for additional photo in this series.
