Description
This pamphlet was released by the Pennsylvania Railroad Company in celebration of the 25th Anniversary of its 20-hour express train, the "Broadway Limited." The content is written from the perspective of a writer, Katherine Woods, who rode the train from New York to Chicago. It describes the personal service provided to passengers and explains how the train is operated while highlighting the overall success of the Broadway Limited. This work places much emphasis on both the quality of the service and the safety provided by the Broadway Limited to its passengers. I'm interested in the photos that advertise the great customer service, namely those of an alert-looking porter (page 7), an immaculate dinning car (page 9), and a kitchen where two cooks work diligently preparing dishes (page 30). These pictures tie into my research topic which explores how railroads presented their trains as spaces of luxury, comfort, safety, and quality service. Corners are bent; in good condition. Publication partially scanned.
