Eugène Casalis
Portrait of Eugène Casalis (1812-1891) : Founder of the French Protestant Mission in Lesotho where he stayed from 1833 to 1855. Director of the Société des missions évangéliques de Paris (Paris evangelical missionary society) from 1856 to 1882. He is known for his role in the ethnography of Lesotho and the linguistics of the Setswana language.
