Formal portrait of Alansa Carr, Miss Alaska of 1959, wearing pageant robe and tiara. Text accompanying image states: "She formerly was named May Queen at St. Helen's Hall, Portland, a preparatory school for girls, and Homecoming Queen at California Institute of Technology, Pasadena. On the Scripps campus, Miss Carr is an English major whose undergraduate iterests are journalism and creative writing. At Atlantic City, Miss Alaska, who is the daughter of Dr. Ralph Carr and the late Mrs. Carr of ketchikan, will give a dramatic interpretation of an Eskimo legend as her talent skit."
