An old man hugs presidential candidate Ángel Aníbal Guevara during a campaign rally in Ciudad Vieja, Department of Sacatepéquez. Both he and Guevara are wearing hats. They are surrounded by other people. Standing on the left of the image is Guevara's running mate Ramiro Ponce Monroy. On March 8, 1982 Guevara won the presidential election although electoral fraud was claimed by other parties. A military coup prevented Guevara from assuming power and installed a three-man junta headed by General Efraín Ríos Montt.
