Photograph of Father Superior Peter Wallischeck (Wallacecheck?) in the west tower standing beside the largest and oldest bell, Mission Santa Barbara, 1898. Wallischeck stands at right in a dark robe and glasses. A string of prayer beads hang from his lightly-colored belt with a cross on it. The bell hangs from a wooden beam at center. Words are carved in the stone walls around them. Roofs of other buildings can be seen through the bell's opening.
