Photograph is a group portrait of (left to right): Lois Cullison, Executive director, Emma Chittick, program director, Jessie Svensen, Susanne Wilson, president, and Mary Root, member of the National Board. Mary Root is facing the rest of the woman and appears to be talking to them. On recto: "Can you spot Susie?" On verso: "Lois Cullison - Executive director YWCA. Emma Chittick - program director. Jessie Svensen - . Susanne Wilson - President. Mary Root - member Natl Board (from Los G[atos)] Return to Jane McClellend. Shirlie Montgomery photo". Susanne B. Wilson served as YWCA president from 1967 to 1970, which was a turning point for her. In 1973 she became a San Jose City Council woman and became Vice Mayor. She then spent 12 years on the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors, rising to Chairwoman. She never forgot the YWCA and in the mid-1980's Wilson helped spark the new headquarters and residence downtown, and drove the multimillion-dollar campaign to build it.
