Description
Sidney Rittenberg discusses his book, “The Man Who Stayed Behind.” Rittenberg says he learned Chinese in the army and joined the Chinese Communist Party. He describes Mao Zedong and the Gang of Four and his imprisonment and solitary confinement. Rittenberg goes on to talk about growing up in Charleston, South Carolina, the Cultural Revolution, Madame Mao, and his family.
