Description
Photograph of beach-goers near tents and beach-umbrellas, south of the pier, Playa Del Rey, ca.1924. A family in attire that appears to be unfit for the beach is pictured from behind in the foreground. The father wears a white button-down shirt, while the woman seems to be wearing a house dress. One of the children is wrapped in a blanket or towel, while the other wears a cap and sits closer to the tilted umbrella sitting next to him. Farther back, changing tents can be seen, along with other visitors enjoying the beach in a myriad of ways. A few two- to three-story houses can be seen in the distance along a ridge. The ocean is visible to the right.
