Marymount College, all female, was founded in 1933 in Los Angeles and later merged with St. Joseph College of Orange, and then with Loyola University to eventually form co-ed Loyola Marymount University in 1973. Marymount College was located at 10643 Sunset Boulevard in Westwood. Marymount High School is at that location today. Marymount California College (Rancho Palos Verdes) split from the original Marymount College (Westwood) in 1968. Photograph caption dated November 14, 1959 reads "Geri Ghiz (left) daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis R. Ghiz, Encino, and classmate Marie Nora have been elected Freshman Class Councillors (sic) at Marymount College in Westwood. They are seen here viewing the new Marymount campus in Palos Verdes, at which they will be students next year. Both girls are widely active in collegiate activities." Marymount California College is located at 30800 Palos Verdes Drive East, Rancho Palos Verdes.
