Description
This circa 1970 postcard shows a sculpture of Father Junipero Serra which, located in Capitol Park, was completed in 1967. The Franciscan Serra, known for founding a series of 21 California missions, from San Diego to Sonoma, during the eighteenth century, was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 1988.
