Description
Doll depicts a White HMong woman carrying a baby on her back along with a woven water jug basket (right hand) and woven fish trap in her left hand. She is wearing a white dress over a plain pair of black pants. A black jacket with red trim is worn over the dress, with a long embroidered apron layered on top, and tied with a pink and green waist sash. She wears a silver necklace with three silver shells and long silver earrings. The doll features an ornate and colorful headdress called phuam paj, featuring embroidery, multicolored pompoms, and silver discs representing coins. The baby can be seen wearing a small cap with red pompoms on top. The back of the doll displays the embroidered baby carrier, in addition to the embroidery on the long tail of her waist sash, called tw siv. The long red tassels added beneath the embroidered bands are typical of the Luang Prabang region. Original title from SEACRC: HMong woman with baby, white skirt
