The Elsie M. Castner Oral History Project was made possible by grants from the estates of Robert F. Cocklin, Ruth Castner Cocklin and others. The Dixon Public Library undertook this project in 1998 with the assistance of Chris Castaneda from CSU, Sacramento. The oral history of long-time resident Del Holly is a record of his memories about growing up in rural Dixon, CA. His stories relate to the economic development of agriculture and ranching in early California communities. The present-day Holly families descend from pioneers that settled in northern Solano County after the town of Dixon became established in 1868.
