Description
Bust-length portrait. 1990-1685. Born in New York State in 1819. Worked as lawyer until came overland to California in 1849. Briefly worked mines. Settled in Sacramento, working as lawyer. Served as county attorney in 1850, agent for the United States Land Commission in 1854, elected to Legislature in 1856, Code Commissioner. Became District Judge of the Sixth Judicial District. Died in 1889.
