Photograph caption dated November 17, 1959 reads, "Miss Margaret McHale, center, niece of late John Steven McGroarty, tells William S. Magginetti, vice president of San Fernando Historical Society, and Miss Frances Muir Pomeroy, president, about her gift to city of poet's desk, books and personal effects. Collection is contained in late poet's home located in McGroarty Park Tujunga. Included are chest and chair from Spain, ceremonial sword from Pope Pius XI, violin and many plaques marking his life as poet, newspaperman and scholar."
