Cowles, assistant professor of biology at U. C. L. A., have aroused the interest of scientists. The tiny one is one of the few born in captivity and was hatched in the university laboratories. The larger snake, found in Swartout canyon, produced 19 eggs, two of which are held by May Hobart, left. Dr. Cowle's [sic] is conducting experiments to determine correct conditions for hatching the snake eggs."
