Description
Bust-length drawing. 1990-1605. Mrs. F. Howell John Craig Boggs was born in Greencastle, Pennsylvania in 1825. Came to California during the Gold Rush in Sept. 1849, coming around Cape Horn on the ship, Xylon. Went to Auburn, Placer County. Engaged in gold mining, general merchandising, served in various posts as sheriff, constable, marshall, county assessor and postmaster. Settled on ranch in Newcastle raising fruit.
