Photograph caption dated May 26, 1956 reads, "Emergency treatment is given Raymond Lee Mulkey, 43, Burbank, as his wife, Stella, weeps. Mulkey, bar equipment installer, is in technical custody of Los Angeles police. He told police he was shot when he stopped his car on Riverside drive to offer assistance to man he thought was having car trouble."
