Description
First wire recorder for telephone, ca 1906. Made by Aktielselskabet Dansk Telegrafonfabrik, Kjobenhavn [Copenhagen], serial no.80, with leather belts [broken]. Danish engineer Valdemar Poulsen (1869 -- 1942) developed the first magnetic wire recorder in 1899. An article in The Electrical Magazine (July 1904, pp. 54-56) illustrates how the telegraphone operates.
