Description
Tavern of Tamalpais, circa 1911. It was near the summit of East Peak, and was built between 1896 and 1898. Travelers, mainly tourists, could get fine meals and overnight lodging at the tavern. People above are standing on the walkway leading to a fine dance pavilion. A gravity car full of people can be seen under the arch. There are two versions of this photograph.
