[Profiler bio] Born in the US in 1946, Bob Holmes graduated from UCLA and was commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant by the time he graduated (although he skipped the graduation ceremony). Commissioned as a combat engineer, Bob left for Vietnam in 1970. He began his service at a base camp in Saigon in July and ended it a year later in July of 1971 with the 1st Brigade, 5th Mechanized Division in the Quang Tri province in the city of Quang Tri on the DMZ. Although he was headquartered in Saigon, Bob traveled to many places in Vietnam because he was with the Army Security Agency dubbed the "509th Radio Research Group" since it did not officially exist in Vietnam. Bob was in Vietnam with top secret security clearance due to his role as staff engineer to the Army Security Agency. His job included planning and programming construction and conducting major repairs for the radio research field facilities which intercepted electronic signals throughout the country. He was then transferred to an independent mechanized infantry brigade and became an intelligence operations officer. He conducted POW interrogation reports, examined electronic intelligence, and managed ranger and scout reports. After the war Bob returned to the US to become a management consultant and also a Councilman and Mayor for Manhattan Beach, California. [Profile bio]
