Description
"The original bridge over the American River at Fair Oaks, seen above around 1902, was built by the Pacific Improvement Company, who won the bid for the Fair Oaks Bridge at a cost of $24,800--with another $1,500 added for a trestle approach. Construction of the bridge began in January 1901 and spanned out for travel by early March that same year. The bridge served the community and helped for the faster transport of fruit from 1901 to 1906, when it washed out during a flood."
