The Clarence W. Pierce School of Agriculture is a two-year community college in Woodland Hills, California. It opened in September 1947, with 70 students and 18 faculty members and is part of the Los Angeles Community College District. The school's initial focus was crop cultivation and animal husbandry, and still retains a large swatch of open fields for hands-on working farm training. In 1956 the school was renamed Los Angeles Pierce College. Photograph caption dated March 15, 1957 reads, "This is agriculture? - Walter Bell, agriculture major at Pierce College, isn't too enthused with Canoga Park High School student Marcia Schiff's first attempts at milking cow. Bell, like many men students at college, is sporting beard for whiskerino contest in Spring. Pierce, always major agriculture college, is making way for large liberal arts program under proposed $7,000,000 expansion program."; See images #00135791 through #00135795 for all photos in this series.
