Description
The caption printed in the Sacramento Bee on June 13, 1971 states: "Interstate 5 freeway construction through Stockton continues at a steady pace through the city northward toward Sacramento. A project map of the main interchange and bridges over the Stockton Channel is pictured above. The crosstown freeway interchange, shown on the map from an aerial viewpoint, takes shape in the side-view photo (subject photo) at right with a "sandwich" of three levels being built just south of the channel bridge. The top level connects I-5 with the crosstown freeway, the middle level is I-5 and the bottom level is an offramp."
