Black and white photograph showing a Nigerian congregation at a women's anniversary run by the Methodist Missionary Society at Eziama, southeast Nigeria, in 1934. The congregation sit under the shade of a thatch roof in an outdoor courtyard. Some of those unshaded to the rear of the image protect themselves from the sun with their umbrellas. The cadets of the Girls' Life Brigade (a girl guide troop run by the mission at their Ama Achara station) sit in white uniforms at the back right of the image. The caption to this slide reads: "Part of the congregation." This photograph was pasted into one of a series of exercise book albums created by Emily Godfrey, Matron of the Ama Achara Methodist Hospital, also run by the Methodist Missionary Society.
