After opening of its new West wing St. Joseph Hospital embarked on remodeling and updating the old five-story East wing to make the old wing facility equal to the new addition. Photograph caption dated September 21, 1964 reads, "Clinic Expands -- Young Michelle Negus undergoes examiniation by volunteer doctor, William S. Sandler, in St. Joseph Hospital's Children's Clinic which is currently being expanded. Watching are, from left, Mrs. Ellen McGalliard, a nurse; Mrs. Jerry Negus, infant's mother, and Mrs. Edward Bedigan, a volunteer worker at the clinic."
