Gail Sheehy discusses her book, “Middletown America.” She begins by describing how the town of Middletown, New Jersey coped after many members of their community were killed in the World Trade Center terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. She then talks about how individual families were able to deal with the stress of losing a loved one so violently. Martinson asks Sheehy to read a passage of the book that gives a description of a Middletown woman addressing Congress about the terrorist attacks and demanding answers. Sheehy also describes how the Muslim community in Middletown was affected. She ends the interview by discussing different therapies that children can go through, and how she herself had to talk with a therapist while writing this book.
