Description
The photo caption printed in the Sacramento Bee on November 11, 1980 states: "A seagull eyes the boats moored along the craggy coastline of Trinidad, Humboldt County, one of the smallest incorporated cities in California. This time of year the familiar North Coast fog dissipates by early afternoon, but fishermen must watch their boats closely. Unprotected Trinidad Bay lies open to fierce winter winds which in 1974 reached 80 miles an hour and destroyed some 70 boats. Local fishermen are idle this month, awaiting the Dec. 1 opening of the crab fishing season."
