Photograph of the exterior view of the Lick Observatory on Mount Hamilton, Santa Clara, California [s.d.]. The great dome of the 36" refractor telescope is pictured in front, with the rest of the observatory trailing left into the background and terminating in a second telescopic dome. Further left, an unpaved, single-lane road lined by a post-and-wire fence curves up the mountain in front of the observatory. A man in dark clothing is pictured approximately three-quarters of the way up it, facing left. A few large crates can be seen to the extreme right, next to the first dome.
