Description
V2p14c In PHOTO ALBUM-VAULT: ** fc917.9461 A3, Vol. II, page 14 center. This photograph is contained in one of two volumes by Dobbin titled "Album of San Francisco." Group portrait of Washington Dodge and Josiah Howell, with both men looking at the camera and others visible in the background. Text written to left of photo next to its subject: "Washington Dodge Auditor [sic]." Written to right of the photo next to its subject: "Josiah Howell, Real Estate and Police Commissioner." Dodge served as Assessor, not Auditor, and held this position from 1898 to 1912. Howell was appointed Police Commissioner in 1901 and was also Vice President of the Baldwin and Howell Company. Also have negative no. (4x5 in.): 29,580.
