In PHOTO ALBUM-VAULT: ** fc917.9461 A3, Vol. I, page 379 center.
This photograph is contained in one of two volumes by Dobbin titled "Album of San Francisco."
Text written under photo: "Jonathan Kittredge Home 160 Ellis St. 1855 on the site now occupied by the Dale Tallac Hotel." This would place it on the north side of Ellis between Powell and Mason. The photo shows a two-story bargeboarded Victorian Gothic home with a well-kept garden. Family members pose with a cow in front of and around the house. A carriage is seen at the right. The street and sidewalk are planked and the house is surrounded by other buildings, indicating a later date than what is in the written caption.
