2018-0458. Bust-length portrait. Signed "Yours truly A. J. Bayley" -- on front. Handwritten biography of Bayley on verso, dated Dec. 31st 1883. Also have negative: no. 26,189 (5x4 in.) Born in Athens, Vermont in 1827. Arrived in California in 1849 via the ship, Edward Everett. Spent time in mines. Settled in Coloma, managing the Winters Hotel; in 1850, settled in Pilot Hill, building hotel known as Oak Valley House. Elected to the Assembly in 1871.
