Japanese American relocation center views, 1942

Japanese American Relocation Collection
The collection consists of correspondence, magazines, newspaper and journal articles clippings, and publications from the War Relocation Authority, religious groups, as well as civil liberties organizations. It also has a series of correspondence to and from Occidental President Remsen Bird's office, and meeting minutes and other publications from the National Japanese American Student Relocation Council.

Japanese American World War II Incarceration
Building on its cornerstone collection of the Carey McWilliams Papers of the War Relocation Authority, Special Collections and Libraries (SCL) at The Claremont Colleges actively collects materials documenting the Japanese American Nikkei experience during World War II. The collections represent approximately 26.3 linear feet of archival materials and cover an enormous range of subjects central to Japanese-American life before, during, and after World War II, including immigration, the California Alien Land Acts of 1913 and 1920, the War Relocation Authority (WRA), organizations supporting Japanese Americans, redress, sports, and the U.S. Army's 442nd Regimental Combat Team. Japanese Prints
The Grunwald Center's collection of 40,000 works on paper includes 950 prints by Japanese Edo and Meiji period artists. The Center acquired many of these prints in 1965 from the Estate of Frank Lloyd Wright (American architect, 1867-1959). Jay T. Last Collection of Graphic Arts and Social History
Since physicist and Silicon Valley pioneer Jay Last started collecting citrus box labels in the 1970s, the Last Collection has grown to more than 200,000 prints, posters, and ephemera of mostly American origin, and contains works by more than five hundred commercial lithographic companies. Digitized materials from the Last Collection include examples of commercial art documenting consumer culture, social history, and American lithography.
