Description
Photograph of a birdseye view of Pacific Coast Highway in Santa Monica from Palisades Park, 1920-1930. The steep cliffs of Palisades Park are visible at right, and a wooden fence can be seen running along the top edge. Pacific Coast Highway is at the base of the cliffs at center and runs along the shore. Many early-model automobiles can be seen on the road. A long line of buildings, including a bath house, the Gables and the Deauville Club, can be seen on the left side of the road. Two small wharves or breakwaters extend into the ocean in the distance. A mountain range tapers down to the ocean in the background.
