General Benedicto Lucas García (left), Chief of Staff of the Guatemalan army rests his leg on a helicopter as he speaks to a member of the press, who has removed his hat, at a military airport in Santa Cruz del Quiché. He is wearing sunglasses and holding a bottle of Orange Crush soda. Behind them sitting inside the helicopter is a soldier who is smiling and holding his left thumb up. Behind General Lucas García there is a machine gun mounted to the side of the helicopter with ammunition hanging from it. Lucas García was found responsible for crimes against humanity, aggravated sexual violence, and enforced disappearance by the Guatemalan court of high-risk crimes. On May 23, 2018, he was sentenced to 58 years of prison for these charges.
