Description
Plates in: Mare Island photograph album, pg. [13]. View 1 (1991-1166). Shows foundry and Steam Engineering building on left -- view 2 (1991-1167). Shows Foundry, stacks of cannonballs and cylinders. Also have negative: no. 23,878 for 1991-1167. Construction on the foundry began in 1854 and completed after the Civil War. Initially designed by Superintendent of Public Works at Mare Island, Daniel Turner; was completed by Calvin Brown.
