Photograph caption dated March 12, 1963 reads "Capt. Hugh Brown. Tells of shooting." The article partially reads "Two ex-convicts today accused each other of shooting a Chatsworth policeman to death early Sunday in a moonlit field near Bakersfield." The policeman, Ian James Campbell, had been on the force since 1958.
